Here at Ohio Made, we are dedicated to illustrating the importance of shopping Ohio Made. To do that we will be featuring makers set to attend the Ohio Made Holiday Market on November 15th & 16th. While our events offer free admission to the public, we also offer ticketed times where shoppers can get their shopping done before the event opens to the general public. Our VIP event on Friday features discounts to shop, drink specials, special VIP Raffle, all while getting the earliest access to Shop Ohio Made. Meet the Maker: Just Real Woodcrafts

Matt Justin Poole from Just Real Woodcrafts

Today’s introduction is a special introduction, as we are highlighting not only a maker, but the owner and founder of the Ohio Made Holiday Market. Please join Ohio Made in welcoming Justin Poole from Just Real Woodcrafts. Back in 2011, Justin was inspired by his moms patterns and designs he found. He started out using her equipment from the early 90’s when she was a woodcraft Maker.  Justin started out crafting each summer when he was home from college. He would set up each year at the local Art Festival in Toronto, OH. After being the Program Director of the Toronto Art Fest since 2013, Justin was eager to start managing events in his new home, Columbus, OH. In 2016 that dream came true with the first Ohio Made Holiday Market.

Outside of event planning and woodcrafts, Justin is a Project Performance Manager at Jobs Ohio. In his free time he loves all things Disney and enjoys running. He says he gets his best ideas while out for a run. Justin is also married to his partner Matt. Together they have three fur babies, Rue, Riley, & Creston. Often times you’ll see Matt working the booth during Ohio Made Events, while Justin is running around making sure the event is running smoothly. Matt claims he’s the face of the company and does all of the work when Justin’s not around (we know it’s true Matt).

Back in 2016 & 2017, Justin & Matt said that shopping Ohio Made had such a huge impact in their lives. With the sale of their woodcrafts, they were able to buy their first home and pay for their wedding. In 2018 they surprised Justin’s parents and nephew with a trip to Disney for Christmas. On Christmas Day they notified them they would be leaving the 27th. The best part was that Justin’s Step-mom & nephew had never been. To Justin, their excitement was beyond worth all the hard work they put into their small business to make it happen. Without shopping Ohio Made, they believe they would have never been able to do these things.

Justin & Matt also continue to give back to the community through volunteering, as well as contributing to organizations like Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Pelotonia and they support numerous other family and friends. They believe that paying it forward is the most rewarding part of owning a small business. Here at We Are OHIO MADE, we want to personally thank you for making it all possible.
